The Welsh Borders and Central Wales are area’s rich in natural beauty, historical attractions and fascinating market towns for the visitor to explore.

The closest town is Knighton which is 5 miles from the site. Knighton is a bustling small town with a wide selection of pubs, tea rooms, shops, and banks, (including cash points). It is also the home of the information centre for the Offa’s Dyke long distant footpath and they will be happy to supply details and route maps for a variety of walks in the locality. There is also a station for the Central Wales line where trains run regularly between Shrewsbury and Swansea.

Dining out, the nationally acclaimed Waterdine Restaurant is just a few hundred yards away from Black Hall Lodges, and there are many other pubs and restaurants including Indian within a short driving distance.

Wandering further afield, the medieval town of Ludlow is within easy reach, and Victorian Llandrindod Wells lies over the hills to the south. The nearest seaside resort is Aberystwyth, a pleasant drive of about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, catch the train from Newtown, and enjoy the scenery on the way.
